Checklist for Revised Manuscripts submitted to Blood
This checklist is not exhaustive and is meant to be used in conjunction with the Author Guide, which contains full instructions.
Prepare the revised version of your manuscript on your word processor. Use the Track Changes
feature (or red font) to clearly indicate the revised portions of your manuscript. Prepare the
document in Microsoft Word (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) with the figures inserted. The figures you insert do not need to be high resolution or print quality (this is a requirement you will need to meet once your paper is accepted). If there
is a Data Supplement that accompanies your manuscript, you will need to have this file ready to upload as well. You should
carefully proof the document before uploading it and make sure there is consecutive pagination.
Make sure to include the following in your revised manuscript:
Ensure that all authors' full names (first name, middle initial, last name) are spelled out correctly.
Make sure that the affiliations reflect the order of authorship, with superscripted numbers linking the authors' names
with appropriate affiliations.
Dual (equal) first authorship; if two authors contributed equally to the work, make a note to that effect.
Make sure that the updated corresponding author's contact information is enclosed (e-mail address required).
In the Abstract: include clinical trial registry statement at the end of the abstract, if applicable.
In the "Methods" section:
Include the IRB approval statement (or equivalent), with the name of the institution that approved the study protocol.
If applicable, include a statement of informed consent in accordance with the Helsinki Protocol.
For each commercial product used, inlude the manufacturer's name.
At the first mention of each manufacturer's name, include the location (city, state, country).
In the "Results" and "Discussion" section(s):
The "Results" and "Discussion" sections should be separate for Regular Articles but combined for Brief Reports.
Under the Acknowledgments section:
List grants and other support received for the study
Provide the authorship contribution statement.
Provide the potential conflict of interest disclosure statement. When there is no potential conflict of interest to
disclose, state that here as well.
In the "References" section:
Adhere to Blood's reference style guide, which, among other things, requires inclusive page numbers.
Ensure that all references and reference superscripts are present and in numerically sequential order.
In the Figure Legends:
Provide a boldface title at the beginning of each figure legend.
Prepare any revised figures that may have been requested by reviewers or by the reviewing Editor.
If you were not asked to revise any figures, you still must re-insert and/or re-upload the originals used in peer review.
Log on to Blood Bench>Press. Enter into your
Author Area and find your manuscript in the queue “Submit a Revision.” Follow all instructions on the screen, and if you
have questions please use the links to “?,” “Help,” and “Frequently Asked Questions” (FAQ) at the top of every screen.
Enter your detailed responses to each of the points raised by the reviewers in the “Response to
Reviewers” box provided. You may provide additional comment to the Associate Editor in the text box marked “Cover Letter.”
You may prepare these responses in advance and then copy-and-paste them into the text boxes.
