Various methods of freezing have been evaluated for the preservation of the
radiation protection effect in fetal mouse liver. The best results were obtained
with tissue frozen slowly in glycerol to -80 C., stored at -50 C. or lower, and
thawed rapidly. Other variables such as the size of the tissue particles, the
amount of serum in the freezing mixture, and the method of dilution did not
influence the results.
