ERRATUM

Erratum in Hoster et al. A new prognostic index (MIPI) for patients with advanced stage mantle cell lymphoma. Blood. 2008;111:558-565.

In the article by Hoster et al entitled "A new prognostic index (MIPI) for patients with advanced stage mantle cell lymphoma," which appeared in the January 15, 2008, issue of Blood (Volume 111:558–565), the unit for white blood cell (WBC) count is not specified in the formula for the mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) international prognostic index (MIPI) prognostic score in the "Prognostic factors" section of "Results." For calculation of the MIPI prognostic score, the number of WBCs must be inserted as counts per microliter (counts per 10–6 L). Using WBC as counts per 10–9 L leads to incorrect results. In addition, in the same formula, "x age (years)" was added erroneously a second time.

The correct formula for the MIPI prognostic score is MIPI score = 0.03 535 x age (y) + 0.6978 (if ECOG > 1) + 1.367 x log10(LDH/ULN) + 0.9393 x log10(WBCs per 10–6 L).

The unit for WBC count is per 10–6 L also in Tables 4 and 5 and in the legends of Figures 3 and 4. In Table 4, the unit for lymphocyte, granulocyte, and monocyte count is per 10–6 L, and for LDH and β2-microglobulin per ULN, respectively. In Table 5, the unit for LDH is also per ULN.

In Table 7, the last 2 cells of the last column are "10.000-14.999" and " ≥ 15.000," respectively.
