- Figure S1. Cells in the thymus were not productively infected with bCMV or bLCV (PDF, 204 KB) -
Three months after transplantation, the thymus of animal M00227 was immunostained for bCMV (specific stain, low-power magnification in the top panel and high-power magnification of the corticomedullary junction in the second panel from the top) and bLCV (specific stain, low-power magnification in the third panel from the top and high-power magnification of the corticomedullary junction in the fourth panel from the top). Negative controls were stained using irrelevant mouse antibodies of the same isotype. Positive controls included bCMV-infected MRC5 cells stained for bCMV (top panel), bLCV-transformed B-lymphoblastoid cells stained for bLCV (bottom panel), and the thymus of animal M00227 stained for vimentin, documenting adequate preservation of the tissue for immunostaining (middle panel). Images were acquired with a Leitz Dialux 20, Leitz Peripan GF 10x optics with Nikon Plan Apo 10× or 20× objectives, at room temperature, with a Leica DFC 300 camera, and were processed with Leica Fire Cam, and Photoshop Elements 2.0 (for white balance adjustment).
