In the article by Martincic et al. entitled "Identification of
Mutations and Polymorphisms in the Factor XI Genes of an African American Family by Dideoxyfingerprinting," which appeared in the November 1, 1998 issue (Vol 92, No 9, pp 3309-3317), a correction should be noted. Throughout the manuscript, a reference is made to a
serine to glutamine mutation at amino acid position 248 of the factor
XI protein. The actual substitution is serine to asparagine.
