    Blood publishes original articles describing novel and precedent-setting laboratory, translational, and clinical investigations in the field of hematology and related areas of research. All articles have passed through stringent peer review and are representative of the best research in hematology currently conducted in the US and abroad. Review articles and discussions of topical issues in hematology are also included.


  6. Requirements for acceptance of new professional products for advertising

    Pharmaceuticals will not be accepted until a New Drug Application from the FDA has become effective. However, Publisher reserves the right to reject advertising deemed inappropriate. Non-professional products or services must be approved by Publisher.

Advertising Rates

  1. Agency commission

    15% of gross billing on space, color, and preferred positions.

    Dual Responsibility: Billing directed to the advertising agency at the net rate is approved on condition that the advertiser accept "dual responsibility" for payment if the agency does not remit within 90 days.


  2. Closing dates for space

    1. Reservations: All advertising closes five weeks prior to mailing date.
    2. Cancellations: Any time prior to closing dates. Covers and special positions are non-cancelable.

  4. Earned rates

    Earned rates are based on the total number of insertions (full or fractional) used within a 1-year period.


  5. Color rates

    1. Standard color rate: $775 per page or fraction of page. Standard AAAA colors: red, green, blue, yellow, or orange.
    2. Matched colors: $825 per page or fraction of page.
    3. Color rate for spread: Color charge applies to each page.
    4. 4-Color rate: $2,000 per page or fraction of page.
    5. Color charges are in addition to earned black-and-white rates.

  6. Bleed

    No charge.


  7. Inserts

    1. Two-page insert (one leaf): Two times earned black-and-white rate plus 10% at earned frequency rate.
    2. Four-page or larger insert: Black-and-white earned frequency rate per page.
    3. Samples of all inserts must be submitted to Publisher for approval of stock and design and other mechanical specifications.
    4. All inserts must be delivered to the printer in cartons with Journal name, quantity enclosed, and intended issue of Blood clearly marked (see Shipping Instructions for details).

  11. Miscellaneous

    Rate protective clause: Proper notification will be given of any rate changes. Advertisers may cancel contracts at the time the change in rate becomes effective without incurring a short-rate adjustment provided the contract rate has been earned up to the date of cancellation.


  12. Incentive Programs

    Monthly Continuity Program: Advertise your product 3 times in any month and receive the 4th insertion free. All ads, including your free ad, must be for the same product, run in the same month, and be a full page or larger. If ads vary in size, the least expensive unit qualifies for your free ad.

    12 Times Discount Program: Place 12 insertions for the same product during the calendar year and get the 13th insertion for the product free. Ads must be full page or larger. If ads vary in size, the least expensive unit qualifies for your free ad.

    You can combine the Monthly- and 12-Times programs to increase your savings and exposure. By combining them over a four month period, you would pay for 12 ads and get 5 free.

    Free insertions from the incentive program DO NOT count towards your earned frequency rate.

      Test files on Rapid Inspector software, a free download.
    2. Ship digital ads on a CD to Blood. Include one SWOP proof.
    3. Furnished proofs are considered final unless otherwise indicated.
